Imo, the game suffers from several key issues that made it difficult to enjoy.įirst and foremost among these issues, is the story. The creature design is surprisingly creative.Īnd that's where the positives end for me! The sound effects and the soundtrack were alright (at times). Graphically, it was alright for its time. DC2, up until now, remains among my favorite games of all time, and I'd love to play it again some day. It does have a very old feel to it, but there are tracks that are just gorgeous.Īll in all, it's a game I highly recommend to all fans of the DC franchise. The soundtrack is good even by today's standards. Aside from a certain point in the latter half of the game, ammo is not something you'll be concerned with.

The enemies do respawn, but it's an action game, not a horror game. The controls are similar to the original DC (the zenith of survival-horror), but your character is very easy to control, doesn't feel sluggish at all, and you'll get used to them by the first save point. The puzzles are easy (if you can call them puzzles). The normal difficulty is pretty easy, and the hard difficulty can be a nightmare for newcomers. The game has two difficulties: Normal and hard. That means, you're gonna have a hard time finding a better action game of that era. DC2 is, in my view, the examplar of old-school action games. That is a view I agree with on a fundamental level, but disagree with when it comes to implementation.ĭC2 does the action extremely well. The change from horror to action was something a lot of people had issues with.

DC2 is considered by many fans to be a drawback.
